What to Expect at Church Street
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
We are a vibrant congregation gathering for traditional worship services, reaching out to serve in both our local and global communities. At Church Street, you will experience worship, fellowship, spiritual growth, and service to others.
Because we are located in the center of the city, this congregation is enriched by our nearness to the University of Tennessee and our downtown community, and the views represented among the congregation are diverse and are representative of the city’s population itself. Church Street is a faithful community of believers in Jesus Christ who are open to discussion, debate, and fellowship with one another.
Children are vital to the life and growth of the church. Church Street’s adults who work with children and youth pass background checks and complete a training designed to protect children. Learn all about our Youth Programming (6th grade and up) at their Youth website, https://churchstreetyouth.wordpress.com/ , and contact Youth Director Jenny Cross with any questions.
Church Street offers the following opportunities for children:
Nursery Care During Sunday Worship Services – for children ages infant to 4 years. Children are signed in electronically and wear a name badge during their time at church on Sunday mornings for their safety.
Children’s Worship – for children ages 4 to 2nd grade. Children join their families in the worship service until they are dismissed after the Offertory to our Children’s area with our Children’s Ministry Director. Children experience a special time during each worship service with a member of our clergy or children’s ministry team (they may choose to participate).
Children’s Choirs: Opportunities throughout the school year for children ages 3 through 5th grade to sing.
Children’s Camps, Retreats, and Confirmation: Throughout their childhood at CSUMC, children’s lives are enriched by the teachings of Jesus, through fellowship, service, fun camps, age-appropriate retreats, and ending in a Confirmation class throughout the course of their fifth grade year. Once in 6th grade, children graduate to our Youth Department.
