J.J. Warren

J.J. Warren is a graduate of New York’s Sarah Lawrence College (‘19) and a seminary student at Boston University School of Theology (‘22). After his impassioned speech at General Conference 2019, he has traveled to United Methodist congregations around the world, working toward the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in the Church. He’s the author of an upcoming book, Reclaiming Church: A Call to Action for Religious Rejects, which will be published by the UMC’s Abingdon Press in February 2020. A brief overview of history of RMN and the steps/process to becoming a Reconciling Church or Community.
3:00-4:00pm
How to engage in difficult conversations
This is a season to lean into conversations we might naturally want to avoid. Learn some techniques and tools for engaging in difficult but life-changing conversations, especially with those who view life and faith and inclusion differently from the way we do.
4:00-5:30pm
What lies ahead? Preparing Holston for GC 2020
We’ll look at the timeline before us – leading up to and following General Conference 2020 and provide some concrete suggestions for how Reconciling United Methodists can be engaged during this season, locally, and at the District, Conference and wider church level.
