The young adult ministry of Church Street exists to draw young adults (ages 18-35) into a dynamic community where they can learn about God and themselves, serve their neighbors and those in need and grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Sunday School:
Young adults are welcome in any adult Sunday school class at Church Street; however, one class is specifically designed for young adults. Check out the Gap Class. This class of excited and passionate young adults encourages others to visit their lively Sunday morning discussions and to participate in their charitable activities. The class meets in room E-02, downstairs next to the Teaching Christ statute in the Church Life Center.

The Gap Class is a diverse group of young adults with many different backgrounds and interests. The group is flexible in structure, yet organized and committed to creating a community of like-minded disciples who seek to fulfill the mission of the Church. The Gap Class members also enjoy gathering together for a variety of social activities, such as Boomsday on Labor day, White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River, Tailgating for UT Games, Camping Trips, Lunches & Dinners, Trivia Nights, and Trips to Sterchi Lodge. The class contact is J. R. Hertwig at (865) 384-7049 or jrhertwig01@yahoo.com.

Service:
Last year this class of young adults, including young graduates and young professionals, created a covenant in which the members pledged to step up in areas of Worship, Justice, Devotion and Compassion to contribute to the church’s greater mission “to make disciples of Jesus Christ” and to make themselves become better, more dependable disciples. Class members are indeed following this covenant!

One major project to highlight is their involvement with Wesley House. This year the class has served by sitting and reading with children, baking and decorating large birthday cakes that are enjoyed during the monthly birthday parties and completely renovating a neglected pantry which stores canned goods that are given to needy families.
