UPCOMING EVENTS
At Church Street UMC, we offer choirs for all ages and ability levels. If you have a "song in your heart," enjoy the fellowship of other musicians, and want to share your love of Christ through music, we have a place for you in our program.
We endeavor to use music to generate excitement, beauty, and inspiration in the services of worship.
Choir membership is open (no auditions needed) throughout the year. Questions about any of the choirs, programs for the year, or instrumental ensembles should be voiced directly to Tim Ward, DIrector of Music Ministries. Tim may also be reached at (865) 521-0276.

Tower Bells
In 2007 and 2008, a set of 5 cast and tuned bronze bells casted by the Paccard Bell Foundry in Annecy, France were installed in the church's magnificent bell tower. The two largest bells (F and G) were given by Verna McLain in memory of Howard McLain and in honor of family members. The third bell in the series (A) memorializes Jama McDonald Hollingsworth from a bequest to the music department from her estate. The fourth bell in the set (C) was given in memory of long-time choir member, Donald G. Rhodes, by LaNoka Rhodes and by many other people known simply as Friends of Bells. The fifth bell (D) was placed in the tower by the David Harris family.
Master Arts Series
Music and Fine Arts is an active program offering instruction and worship opportunities, concerts, recitals, and programs involving other creative arts. Through the ministry of music and the Master Arts Series, we reach out, within and beyond our own walls, to foster and promote the sacred and performing arts. We teach so that excellence in music and continuous development of God-given talents may thrive in the church now, and in future generations.
Contributions intended for funding of the Master Arts Series may be made to Church Street UMC and marked M.A.S. All gifts will be gratefully acknowledged.

Aeolian-Skinner Pipe Organ
The church's Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ was installed in 1965 and was expanded in 1984 to 60 ranks by Randall Dyer & Assoc. The organ is well known for its exceptionally fine capabilities for concert work as well as worship service music.
In 1998, a contract was signed with Randall Dyer and Assoc. for renovation and additions, which was completed in December 2001. This project included a new nine-rank antiphonal division, which is located in the rear balcony and played from its own console as well as from a new four-manual console in the chancel and in combination with the front organ. In 2006, a complete re-leathering of the organ and various additions including a new SOLO division were completed. The organ now stands at 91 ranks.
