Women's Bible Study

Hebrews - The Nearness of King Jesus by Lisa Harper

The book of Hebrews highlights two contrasting realities. Jesus is supreme yet approachable. Hebrews was a sermon for a specific people and culture in the midst of martyrdom and persecution, but is also so relevant for us today, reminding us to continue walking toward Jesus regardless of our culture or our circumstances. Join us as we journey through this bridge between the Old and New testaments to get to the heart of the matter: Jesus is our accessible King. He is not a faraway God, but an up-close Redeemer who draws near to us. Hebrews helps women make the connection between God the Father and God the Son and reminds us that Jesus is supreme, but He is also compassionate, empathetic and loving to no end.
This 7-week study will begin on Wednesday, January 13, and ends on February 24. There is a weekly DVD and homework workbook. The cost of the workbook is $14 and will be handed out on the first day of class. We meet from 9-11 a.m. in room 201-A. Childcare is provided if needed. Please contact Juanita Cowles at 865-712-3262 or for information and to sign up.

Christmas Eve Services

On Christmas Eve, we will have four candlelight communion services at Church Street?each one designed to meet a slightly different need. We hope that one of these services can become part of your Christmas tradition. This would be a wonderful occasion to invite extended family and neighbors to join you at church.

Noon ? The Midday Christmas Eve Service
This service, which includes candlelight and communion, is designed for those who want to come out for worship and get home before dark or have additional travel plans. The congregation will sing many familiar Christmas Carols and soloists will sing Ave Maria and O Holy Night. This service lasts one hour.

3 p.m. ? The Family Service
This service, which includes candlelight and communion, is designed for families with young children. The Children?s Sermon is the focus of this service and the children are actively involved in several ways. This service lasts 45 minutes.

5 p.m. & 10:30 p.m.
The times shown are the beginning of the musical prelude. The liturgy begins 30 minutes later in each case. The Parish Adult Choir will sing selections from Handel's Messiah. Each service usually lasts about 90 minutes, including the musical prelude. Please note: a nursery will be provided at the 5 p.m. service for infants - Kindergarten.
