"Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord...Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective (5:14,16)."
The writer of the Epistle of James reminds us of the power of turning to the Lord in times of illness and unrest, and offers us the privilege of participating in healing prayers and anointing. Perhaps you are weary in mind and spirit, perhaps your physical challenges seem overwhelming, or maybe you feel the need for forgiveness, or desire to pray on behalf of a loved one. If so, you are invited to a meditative Service of Healing and Forgiveness on Sunday, January 22, at 5:45 p.m. that includes liturgy, prayers, blessing with holy oil, and the restorative music of Rachel Schlafer-Parton.
