Youth End-Of-Year Party
  [Less]

Celia and I had 50 great teenagers, parents, and leaders over the house last Sunday evening. As a result, we had a ball.

The day was cool so the slip-n-slide would not work. Luckily, we were ready with cardboard and the grassy hill behind the house. It was all the party they needed! They sat, stood and surfed our hill all afternoon. Along with the cardboard, they spent time with the cornhole game, supper, smores and just talking together.
Many thanks to the adults and youth who made sure that this was a great event. They came with everything to set up. When they left a few hours later, the yard had been restored to order.

Such an afternoon with these youth serve as a reminder that the youth of our church are great representatives of the whole church. Thank you to the parents and youth leaders who made this afternoon work so very well.

-Pastor Andy

Sharing Shop Update
  [More]

The Church Street and Beacon of Hope Sharing Shops continue to serve many customers and we are extremely grateful for the support of the congregation. We also continue to form and nurture relationships with those we are serving, and we are blessed by this opportunity to be in mission. Going to bed truly hungry, taking rolls of toilet paper from a public facility because you have no money to buy them, or being without shoes are things that most of us cannot begin to imagine. Loving those who need us the most, sharing God?s grace with those who desire to understand it, and being in mission with our brothers and sisters in Christ drive us to be good stewards of your donations and to be responsible and committed to those we serve. We thank you so very, very much for your donations and want you to know that these donations are making a difference in more ways than you can imagine.

Here is a list of some current needs and these may be placed in the wooden box in the hallway outside the kitchen. Thank you again for all you do and for all you share.

Cleveland UMW Shares Mission

Hands-On Mission Kits
  [More]

This year, we at Church Street are sending buckets of food to Liberia as part of the annual Holston Conference Hands-On Mission Project. The list of items requested is below.

1 bag sugar (4 - 5 lb.)
1 powdered milk (10 oz. or less)
1 box old-fashioned oats (18 oz. or less)
1 bottle cooking oil (48 oz. or less)
1 bag rice (2 lb.)
1 bag dried beans (2 lb.)
2 cans meat: ham, spam, or tuna (12 oz. each)
$5 donation for packing and shipping

Complete buckets should be returned to the church on Sundays, May 25 and June 1, in CLC 13. This is an easy way to get involved and to help make a difference in the lives of others. Please consider filling a bucket as a family or doing several as a group or Sunday school class.
