Support MAD in the CIty
  [Less]

Making a Difference (MAD) in the City is Church Street Youth's local mission project held each summer. We partner with the Wesley House Community Center to work with their students. In the mornings, we go to Wesley House and work with students on their academics as well as play with them, we provide them with great lunches, and take them on field trips in the afternoon. In the evenings, we have activities of our own as a group and spend the night at church. This is a wonderful opportunity to be in fellowship with one another while serving the Lord together!

MAD in the City is July 12-15, and is a big week for Church Street Youth. There are three specific ways you can support this week.
Prayers - Pray specifically for those involved with this week. Pray that we might love the Wesley House kids and each other well. Pray for safety as we travel around Knoxville. Pray for the Church Street Youth Ministry staff and volunteers as well as the staff of the Wesley House. Pray that we might truly be the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve together.
Financial Support - If you would like to donate to this cause, checks can be made out to Church Street UMC with MAD in the City in the memo line. Every little bit helps! The Wesley House is supporting 110 students this summer (higher than ever before) and the cost of providing this event is quite high. If you would like to donate specifically to support a Church Street Youth, you might consider making a donation to our Youth Scholarship Fund. The cost of this event for one youth is $125 - but donations of any amount are appreciated.
Presence - There are several opportunities to serve during this week in support of our students. You could serve breakfast or dinner to youth at Church Street. You could help us transport supplies to the Wesley House. You could help chaperone a youth event. There is plenty to do and we would love to have you!

If you would like to participate, please contact Jenny at jcross@churchstreetumc.org. This event is one that is very dear to the hearts of those involved with Church Street Youth. Our students, volunteers, and staff have a real passion for local missions and have a deep connection with the Wesley House and its ministries. Please consider supporting us in this endeavor - it is one that truly matters.

Women's Bible Study Begins Monday
  [More]

A new Women's Bible Study will begin next Monday, June 22. We will be studying Gideon: Your Weakness, God's Strength by Priscilla Shirer. This six-week study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. In what ways do you feel insufficient? Those places create the greatest opportunity to experience the sufficiency of God. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, see them as the gifts that they are, given specifically and strategically by God to unlock the door of God?s strength.

The study will meet at 6:30 p.m. in room 201-A. The cost of the book is $13. We hope you will join us!
