Brave: Honest Questions Women Ask - by Angela Thomas

We all have insecurities, flaws, and struggles that we are afraid to address. But if we can be brave enough to raise the questions, God will answer us. We will have weekly homework and a DVD on the following topics: I am worn out. I am suffering a thorn. I am undisciplined. I am trembling inside. I am invisible. I am broken. Join us as we dig into scripture for God?s truth on these topics.
This seven-week study will begin on Wednesday, October 7, and conclude on Wednesday, November 18. Books will be handed out at the first class. We meet from 9-11 a.m. in room 201-A. The cost of the study guide is $13. Childcare is provided. Please contact Juanita Cowles at 865-712-3262 or by email at Juanita.cowles@att.net for information and to sign up.

Blessing of the Animals
  [More]

On Sunday, September 27, we will continue the Church Street tradition of Blessing of the Animals. Everyone is invited to bring their pets to this unique service of worship where we thank God for our furry, fuzzy, feathered and/or scaly friends. Pets should be on a leash or in a cage if appropriate, and should be well-mannered. You will be responsible for cleaning up after your pet should the need arise. We hope you will join us as we celebrate our faithful companions in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi and his great love for all God?s creatures.

Covenant Bible Study
  [More]

Covenant Bible study begins in September
We did have enough interested people in order to offer the Covenant Bible Study beginning Sunday, Sept. 20. But, we still have room for more persons to sign up. Covenant Bible Study is a 24 week study divided into 3 eight week modules, each dealing with a different aspect of the covenant theme found throughout the Bible. There are breaks between each module. The study will begin on Sunday, Sept. 20, 5:30-7 pm in room 201-A. This will allow persons to eat supper together in Parish Hall before joining the study. Cost of the 3 study books is $50 with an additional $10 for the devotional meditations book which is optional. If you desire a weekly study with fellow Church Street members and the discipline of studying the Bible in a whole new way, you are invited. If you have taken previous Disciple like courses and like in-depth Bible study then you should try Covenant. If you would like to sign up or want more information, contact Rev. Rick Isbell, leader of the course, at risbell@churchstreetumc.org so materials can be ordered. Students need to be prepared with episodes 1-2 before the first class meeting.
